E'vesash glanced up in confusion at his words. "What do you mean?" Her emerald eyes watched him intently, unsure of what he meant by his words...but almost afriad to hear his answer. "Nay, do not blame yourself...you could not have known."

"Yes...I could... I was a fool...a fool not to see through her clever disguise."

E'vesash reached out, placing a hand lightly upon the side of his face. "Legolas, no. There was no way you could have known." She paused, glancing toward the window briefly. "But what does it matter now? She is gone...and we are together."

Legolas turned to look into her eyes. He felt as though he could scream and rave in his rage, but alas, she held him captive in her gaze.
"No Evy... It does matter. All of Gondor could be at risk...and I cannot know what she is capable of..."

E'vesash shook her head. "What could you possibly have told her that would put all of Gondor at risk?" A gentle smile formed upon her lips. Such a relief swept through her that she was here, resting upon her own couch, that she could hardly contain it.

"I spoke without thinking Evy... Even I cannot be sure of what I might have said. I simply must expect the worst..."

E'vesash shook her head, refusing to believe his words. "You could not have known." Oh how angry she was with her sister. Why would Alatariel seek to hurt them so? Evy had done nothing to her. Nothing. She buried her face in her hands as the tears rose once more, and the sobs shook her body. Why did this have to happen? Why couldn't they just put it behind them?

Legolas moved up and took a seat next to Evy. His hand came around her, pulling her close to him as he tried to calm her. "You're right Evy..." A smile flashed across his face as he placed a kiss on her cheek. "You always are..."

Evy adjusted herself to rest her head upon his shoulder as he drew her near. "Nay, not always..." She reached up with one hand, attempting to wipe some of the dampness from her cheeks. E'vesash drew in a deep breath as she worked at regaining her composure.

Legolas smiled, feeling a sudden warmth flow within him at once again being beside her. "I believe so... Had I listened to you every single time I would never have been in the wrong..." Legolas stopped suddenly, allowing his mind to seemingly drift back across a span of many years before he shook his head. "Nay...only once have you chosen poorly...and that was when you told me to leave you be..."

E'vesash smiled up at him as he spoke his first statements, but glanced downward toward the ground at his last. "I am sorry for that...I was indeed wrong..." She nestled herself against him, wishing that nothing bad had ever happened. But of course, that was a fool's wish...and if nothing bad ever happened, would there ever be anything good either?

Legolas shook his head. "Nay...there is nothing to be sorry for. If anyone is to apologize it must be me...for I was foolish indeed not to follow after you when I returned..."

E'vesash smiled up at him. "No, I do not believe you were foolish." She paused. "But let us speak no more of it for we are likely to go on all day each of us talking of our own faults. What matters is that we are both here, safe." She rested her head once more upon his shoulder, her eyes wandering to the view that could barely be seen over the edge of the balcony from this position.

E'vesash laughed softly. It was the first time she had done so in a good while, and it felt good. "Thank you." She murmured with a smile as she glanced up at him. She sighed, "It's so good to be back here with you. I was afriad you wouldn't be here when I got back...if I ever got back."
