Legolas put his arms around her, pulling her off of her feet as he held him in his powerful grasp. He had found her again... She was here...
"Evy..."
Words failed to describe his joy at knowing that she was safe. But at the same time, he felt a terrible pain at knowing that he had failed to realize the mishap of her presence...

E'vesash shuddered with relief as he pulled her close, and all the events of the past few days poured out in her tears. She buried her face against his chest, her form trembling as she wept. "I...love you." She managed between sobs. The side of her face hurt where the black and blue had surfaced. And now that everything bad was beginning to disappear, she recognized that pain even more.

Legolas feared to release her lest he lose her once more, but he allowed himself to lean back as he gazed down at her face. A mark was clearly visible on her face...that which seemed to be a bruise of some sort. As he watched her tears fall from her beautiful face, a mist filled his eyes and began to fall as well. His kiss came to rest on her cheek as he brushed the tears away from her face with his hand.
"I love you as well Evy..."

E'vesash met his gaze as he pulled away, but as his hand came near to her face she flinched. She immediatly regretted the sudden movement, but had not been able to control it as his hand neared her wound. The elf maiden attempted to put a smile onto her face as she once more met his gaze. She struggled to keep her breathing even as his fingers brushed over the bruised spot on her face, but she let out a small sigh of relief as they moved away. Evy reached up, placing her hand upon the side of Legolas' face, watching him before she once more rested her head on his chest.

As they stood there, alone in the quiet street of the city, Legolas felt the pain of knowing what his ignorance had cost him. He could see she was hurt...perhaps not only by a bruise on the face... Leaning forward slightly, Legolas slipped his arms around her, picking her up gently and walking slowly towards their home. She was so beautiful...so radiant... It was something that he should have realized at the first from her departure. No one could completely match that smile, those eyes, the heart within the person. She was real...real and safe at last...

E'vesash was slightly surprised as Legolas lifted her from the ground, but she soon relaxed in his arms as he carried her toward their home. It felt good to be off her feet...she had to admit that. Once they were inside, she looked up, meeting his gaze. "Legolas...m'love..." she said softly.

Legolas smiled, carrying her silently across the long hall, setting her down slowly on the soft couch that occupied their main den. Without a word, he left and returned quickly, bearing a large bowl of water and a cloth which he had already soaked in it. He carefully set it against her head, letting it come to rest gently as he took hold of her hand.
"Was it the stranger?"

E'vesash stiffened slightly as the cloth was placed on her face, but then she relaxed once more. She looked up at Legolas, and nearly burst into tears anew at his care for her. She kept her composure, however, gripping his hand tightly as if he would disappear were she to let go. At his question, Evy managed a slight nod. "Yes," she murmured.

Legolas watched her fingers clenched around his hand as he kept the cloth against her head.
"And he injured you in no other way?"

E'vesash shook her head as she met Legolas' gaze. "Nay, he did not." She inhaled deeply, trying to further relax as Legolas tended her wound. "He was troubled...his past was rough. But," she paused, once more looking up at her husband, "but he did bring me back to you."

Legolas looked at her in surprise. "And I take it that it was he who took you first?"

E'vesash sighed, looking up at the ceiling. "Yes...it was." She shifted on the couch, inhaling sharply as the rag pushed against her head in the process. She loosed her grip a bit on Legolas' hand, but made no move to release it.

Legolas nodded, easing the pressure slightly that was now lying against her head. He said nothing for a good while, simply watching her in silence as he contemplated what he should say.
"And the other woman..."

E'vesash pondered his next question for a good while, unsure how to answer it. "The other woman...was my sister." She paused. "I don't know how it's possible...but it was her." Evy glanced up to meet his gaze. "My sister died a long time ago...or so I thought. But here she is now." A tear rolled down her cheek. "Why would she do this to me?"

"Your sister?" It was a frightening thought...to think of what might have happened...had she not returned... "Your sister?" The meaning was more than he could comprehend, but as he watched Evy's upset at the mention of her sister, he threw away the next question, simply allowing himself to be content with knowing she was safe.
"She knows much now... I have made a terrible blunder...one that I deem will prove fatal in the end..."
