E'vesash sighed and placed her glass back onto the table gently. She was glad that the many guests were too busy having fun and laughing amongst each other to notice their conversation. "Fine." She said softly and simply. "Then I don't want to go anywhere." Evy glanced away and briefly closed her eyes, regretting the statement as soon as she had said it. She supposed the conflict of indecision would be the major weak point in their relationship...but everyone had one somewhere.

A smile appeared on Legolas' face as he reached over, taking her hand. "Come now Evy. We were only married today and already we're quarreling like an old couple." Legolas laughed watching her quietly. "Very well... You won't decide for me...so tell me Evy...would you be just as happy to go somewhere you'd absolutely hate? Somewhere you'd rather never go, but go to just because you want me to decide? Are you saying that's what you want?"

E'vesash nodded slowly, gently gripping his hand. "Yes." She said as simply as she knew how...and yet sincerely. "You don't seem to understand that I would go with you anywhere. I do not care where it is...I will follow, for I know you would not lead me to harm or misery." She smiled and looked down at her plate, needing something to focus her gaze upon.

Legolas smiled. "Oh I know... I've known that about you since we met...and I knew it'd be something that'd stand in our marriage as well." He gently stroked her hand, watching her face. "I know you'll follow me anywhere I go, but I also want you to have pleasure...pleasure in choosing what you want to do..."

E'vesash smiled as she heard his words. Her heart beat a bit faster at this, knowing that it was true and that Legolas would love her no matter what. "Well," she breathed, "we could always stay here. The white city is a beautiful place even though it is not of elvish background." She met his gaze, her emerald eyes searching his own. "Where we are does not matter...as long as I'm with you."

Legolas took that as an answer, and he wasn't going to fight it anymore. If he did he might never get one! "Yes! We will stay here as long as you like. Here we can relax and enjoy ourselves... Even this place can match the realms of our kin in respects. The men here know the elegance of the elder days, before this world became a place of hate... I will enjoy being here with you Evy, and after that...after that we will have eternity together..."

E'vesash nodded and her smile widened. "Good...it is settled then." Her emerald eyes regained their sparkle, and she longed to throw her arms about him and thank him for pressing the matter no further. But, for fear of making a scene, she remained quiet and lifted her utensil, placing a bit of food in her mouth.

Legolas did the same, eating heartily and enjoying himself. Soon the minstrels began their song and Legolas listened in fascination. Their song spoke of the sea and its lure, bringing all to its shores to stand and watch for the coming of the elves out of the west. Legolas listened...captivated by the words and speech of all. It was something he had ever longed for...ever desired. To go to the sea forever...never returning to anything of misery...
With a start he looked up, taking notice that the song had ended and another began, but still the matter clung to him...

E'vesash smiled and listened to the song as well, but its matters did not stike any chord in her heart. She clapped once the last note of the song was ended, as did a few of the others who had been greatly enjoying the music. "Was that not wonderful, my love?" She asked Legolas with a smile. Evy slid her empty plate toward the center of the table and glanced toward Aragorn and Arwen to make sure they were enjoying themselves, before she returned her attentions to Legolas.

Legolas looked up as if suddenly awoken from a pleasant dream. He watched her, not sure what to say, but the words fell from his mouth. "Yes... It was indeed Evy... Though...though it hurts..."

E'vesash watched him with slight confusion at first before she realized what he was talking about. A look of sadness came into her own eyes as she cast her gaze downward to the table. She reached for his hand once more, glad still that others were not paying them much heed. She did not know what to say....what could she say to that? Yes, it hurt, but she could never leave. Her place was here. "I know it does." She finally said, her voice quiet.

Legolas looked up at her...a smile coming over his face after several minutes. "Forgive me my love. I am afraid I am at fault... I had always thought one day to dwell on the waves...to make my home there among the gulls, crying out for my soul to come home with them... But worry not. It is a thing of the past...perhaps once more it shall be revealed to me, but not now...not as long as you are mine... Nothing could be of more value to me than you...even some distant fantasy as the sea..."

E'vesash smiled and bowed her head to him briefly. "Thank you, Legolas." She said softly as the current song finished and another began to play. The sun, which had once been high in the sky, was beginning to descend toward the horizon, and it cast a lovely orange glow over all those that sat around and listened to the instuments and voices being played. Evy slid her chair a bit nearer and leaned herself lightly against Legolas' frame, resting her head upon his shoulder as she listened to the music. It was such a soothing sound, and she closed her eyes to better hear it.

The gathering that had once taken up the whole of the garden was now beginning to empty slowly. The sound of the harp and flute gently playing in harmony was a relaxing sound, and all stopped to listen to it. There the company sat, with the sun casting dim rays as the music floated over the crowd...
Legolas put his arm around Evy as the wind swept through their gathering, sending a refreshing scent flying past them.

E'vesash moved closer to him still as the evening's breeze blew up through the garden. She waved farewell to a few of the guests who had deemed it time to depart and returned her attention to the music. "I hope everyone enjoyed the day." She whispered softly to Legolas as she once more allowed her eyes to close and her ears to hear the soft melodies that floated over to them.
