E'vesash took a step back, now somewhat confused. "You are silent." She stated simply, resting one hand upon the wall, letting the other rest lightly at her side. The depths of the shadows of the night had always frightened her somewhat...but such a silence from the one she loved frightened her ever more. Had she done something wrong?

Legolas nodded silently, avoiding her eyes, not wishing to bring pressure upon her to speak, but at the same time, unable to quench his desire to know what had ensued in her departure.
"Yes...but worry not. I twas only a strange notion of mine..."

E'vesash arched a brown in curiousity as he spoke this time. "A strange notion?" She stepped forward, attempting to meet his gaze, but finding that her own was being avoided.

Legolas heard her quiet steps come towards him, and he slowly brought his eyes to face her, though it was hesitant.
"Yes. And only that...a strange notion."

E'vesash's brow furrowed slightly in confusion as she met his gaze. "I do not understand." She stated simply, reaching up to tuck a strand of hair behind her upswept ear.

Legolas turned to her, pondering the matter, weighing it for a moment before speaking.
"Nor do I... Perhaps that is why I worry such... I know nothing of what has taken place in your life since we parted Evy... and I cannot help feel...isolated from a part of you..."

E'vesash sighed and lowered her gaze as he spoke. "I am sorry." She folded her arms, in attempt to block out the sudden cold she felt...but she said nothing of that matter. "I do not know all of what happened while we were apart...and that is the truth. But mostly I just returned to what I do best. Which is to wander from place to place with Azen." She paused for a moment, thinking of how to word the rest. "Then I began to feel as though I were being followed. Azen sensed it too, and indeed I was. That man you scared off in the pub was one of a few who have been following me for a long while now...unfortunately that was not our only encounter for he thinks I have something that belongs to him." She looked out across the plains. "But I do not."

Legolas nodded silently, though he shot a parting glance at Evy before he closed his eyes, deep in thought. It was a puzzling matter, and with his own entrance into its events, it took on another meaning...
After some time, his eyes once again turned towards her, piercing with their gaze, communicating with his words.
"And you have no knowledge of why they have sought you out?"

E'vesash was slightly hurt by the tone of his voice and the piercingness of his gaze, and she averted her own eyes to the ground. "Nay, I do not." Her voice was almost a whisper, for she feared it would waver should she dare to speak any louder. She kept her eyes glued to the stone ground below her.

Legolas steeped forward, embracing her in his arms, running his hand across her back, resting his head against her shoulder.
"I'm sorry Evy... I'm sorry... I only want you to be safe...and I worry for you."
Legolas leaned back, lifting her chin, meeting her eyes.
"I don't know what I'd do if anything happened to you..."

E'vesash bit her lip as he pulled her close. She would not cry, she'd done too much of that already. As he lifted her chin, her eyes misted...but thankfully no tears dared to spill over. "Nothing will happen to me." She finally whispered. "As long as you are with me, I will be safe." She swallowed once, finally brave enough to meet his gaze...and when she saw the love that was there it was nearly her undoing. She reprimanded herself for being so foolish as to think that he would not understand.

Legolas watched her eyes flicker to hold back the tears, and he set a kiss upon her cheek, whispering softly, "I want to be sure though... I cannot trust in my strength alone to protect you..."

E'vesash smiled and tilted her head upward slightly to better meet his gaze. "Well, I trust in it...even if you do not. For I feel that when I am in your arms, nothing in this world can harm me." Then her smile faded. "Forgive me for holding something back from you that should not have mattered. I was foolish to think that you would not understand...and foolish not to realize that you only wanted to help me." Then she smiled once more and reached out to gently touch the side of his face.

Legolas smiled, feeling her soft touch run against his face.
"Worry not E'vesash. No apology is needed. I only asked out of a desire to protect you and nothing more. Let us put it aside now, for it matters not. Tomorrow will bring the day of our union, and I do not want to burden you with any more of my own desires to seek knowledge on such matters."

E'vesash smiled and watched him through eyes that displayed her love for him. "Thank you..." she whispered. Though she wasn't quite sure what she was thanking him for. For not pursuing the matter any further? For understanding and caring? For simply loving her? There were so many reasons she could thank him...and should thank him. Her mind could not comprehend the fact that he was so intent on protecting her and loving her, and it made her feel as though she were worth something. If only there were proper words to explain how she felt. But there were none.
