Garland took a small bottle of clear liquid from his pocket, uncorking the top and chanting a few words while waving his hand over the bottle. A dark could formed within the liquid, growing until the contents of the bottle were pitch black and smoke bellowed from its open lid. Garland replaced the cork and handed the bottle to Vaire. "When you drink this, you will become as Arwen. You will have little time, though, before you fade into the form of an old hag. Now, go forth and carry out this plan. And be sure no one sees you nor follows you.... I would hate to leave you as a hag forever."

Vaire took the bottle from him. "Thank you my Lord, I will keep this in mind. Don't worry, I will be carefully and return to you as soon as it is done." She bowed before both lords and left the chamber.

A few weeks later...
Vaire dismounted her horse and hurried inside the walls of Moria. She was in disguise and wanted to get off that new face as soon as possible. She run through the chambers and halls, doorways and corridors and came finally to the chamber of Garland. She stood trembling before the door and asked for an audience with the Lordship. The guard looked at her and seemed to decide what the old witch might want of his master. Vaire grew desperate and begged he might tell Lord Garland.

Garland heard the shrilled voice of the old woman and walked out into the hall, handing her yet another small bottle of liquid. "Take this and you will return to your formal self soon enough. The spell has been on you now a few days and the effect could take several hours to wear off. Go to Lord Garland's guest chambers and drink. I regret it may also be a bit painful." Garland laughed and returned to his throne.

Vaire took the bottle, thanked him and went. On her way she thought about the laughter and shivered. With suspecion she eyed at the little bottle, not sure if she really should drink it. But the panic to stay like this was to great and so she got to the Guest chambers.
She locked herself into a small room and opened the bottle. With a hearty sigh she swallowed everything in one. After a while cramps run through her body and every muskle and every bone seemed to loose its shape and change. The pain was unbearable and Vaire screamed.

After six hours in pain, Vaire felt relieve and noticed, that her hair was golden again and her face seemed to stay in one shape. She poured water from a jar into a big bowl and looked into it. The face looking towards her was Vaire, not Arwen and not this old hug, just Vaire. She smirked and even she felt tired and sore, she was in a good mood and walked cheering through Moria.

Vaire nodded and followed the Guardian into the Throne room. She bowed before her Lordship and asked:"You want to speak with me. I am in your service, my Lord."

Garland nodded. "Yes, Vaire. Your recent trip to Minas Tirith has given me an idea. I was wondering if you might be willing to disquise yourself as Arwen once more? I have heard already news of the King chasing your quirky friend through the streets. I think perhaps Aragorn would like to know who is behind the whole debacle. I think there is perhaps a way to pin the whole ordeal on one of my enemies, and in this process help my servant Marcellous to gain a little more trust from Gondor and Arnor. What do you say?"

Vaire didn't thought long time about this request and nodded. She hadn't forgotten the strange feeling and the pain, but she was not that mean that she wanted her friend in permanent trouble. This sort of solvation seemed to be fun and she nodded and said:"I like to disquise myself again as Arwen. What shall I do and who shall I be afterwards?"

Garland produced three more potions from his pocket, they were already prepared. "You will first transform into Arwen once again. I would then like you go somewhere the King is sure to see you, and as he watches from afar, you will sip again from the concoction and become like the ruler of Rivendale. Make sure the King sees this happen, then duck into some secluded place and take the final dose, which will turn you once more to the old woman. This time you will have no need to return here though, for the encantment will fade in a matter of a day, leaving you your formal self." Garland handed the vials to Vaire, "You may leave a your lesiure." What Garland kept from Vaire was the fact that when this final enchantment wore off, she would have no memory of any of her doings in the last days, nor any recollection of ever meeting Garland in the dark depths.

A time later...
A servant of Ilmare aproached in the throne room of Lord Garland and bowed. "My Lord, Lady Ilmare let you know, that she is mustering her troups to strike against Rivendell. And she likes to ask you, if you will join her. She said also, she got message from Vaire, that the plan worked and the King is offended against Lord Murazor. And that she is looking for aid in this battle in Angmar, too. What shall I tell her? Does Moria join the Battle? It would be asame like Mithlond, my Lord. She sais after the Gondor might stay out or even join, we would pretend to do some good."

Garland nodded. "Word has reached me of Khand's move. Now Enedwaith. A force from Moria will indeed come to this battle, I can assure you that Moria's banner will be seen on the field before the fight is over."
