Legolas watched her curiously. She seemed hesitant in her movements...as if not sure where to go, what to do, what to say. "Evy...you're sure that you feel alright? The scare you felt this morning might not have been shaken off as easily as you thought."

Alatariel smiled Evy's smile and nodded her head slowly. "Yes, I'm sure I am fine." She tucked a strand of dark hair behind her ear, watching him as she leaned against the couch's soft cusions. Alatariel thought about her mission. Apparantly she would not get much information in the line of Aragorn's plans or whereabouts. Though to know he was headed northward was enough for her...at least he was not headed in the direction of Mordor. Yes, that was good to know. She reached down and felt the daggar at her side. Would it do her any good against the elf beside her? Years in command of orcs and Mordor had made her strong. Perhaps, she was even capable of being a worthy opponant to this Legolas of the woodland realm. Alatariel thought about this for a few more moment, weighing her options....before she finally decided that she could not kill this man. What was she even doing here? She had what she'd come for.

Legolas felt his eyes beginning to close as he let rest take him. However, Alatariel's sudden movement cause him to become alert once more and he glanced down at her. "Evy, why don't we go for a walk? The sights of the city might be enjoyable at this hour..."

Alatariel glanced toward him and nodded. "Yes, I think that would be a fine idea." She rose from the couch, looking in the direction of the door as she waited for Legolas to join her. "The air is very fresh this evening. It might do us both some good."

Legolas and Alatariel were soon out on the street, making their way aimlessly about the city. Legolas offered Alatariel his arm, which she took hesitantly. Soon they were near the Citadel, in full view of the great spire. "It truly is a magnificent day Evy. Sometimes, I wonder how the splendor of our kind can be matched by that of man... but here it is plainly shown..."

Alatariel gave a slight nod, not quite sure what E'vesash's views were on the matter. Best to keep silent for the time being. Finally, she said, "Gondor certainly is a grand city. T'would be a shame were it ever to fall." Inside Alatariel smirked...yes, a shame indeed. A cool breeze blew upon her face, and it felt good. It was quite different from the lands of Mordor...and it brought back memories of a once peaceful life.

Legolas shook his head as if in disbelief. "It will never fall...it cannot. The hopes of all the free-people of Middle-Earth has become bound to this place. Their honor, their strength, their privilege is tied to this city. With such men to defend it, it would take a host ten times as great to destroy this place."

Alatariel nodded, glancing up and down at the city's great walls that loomed all about them. "It is a fine city indeed." She released Legolas' arm, folding her arms as the continued on. She was tired of playing her sister. It was a role she did not enjoy. E'vesash had caused her nothing but grief. "And you really believe that the white city could not fall?" She asked, somewhat bitterly. "It seems to be somewhat of a foolish dream. War is a reality."

Legolas shook his head as he looked out over the city. It was like a rock...a rock built upon the mountain that none could crush.
"Nay... Though war is the reality, we can still achieve what we desire here. And so long as the people desire peace, that is what they will have."

Alatariel glanced toward him in disbelief and shook her head. "Nay...peace is not always a goal that can be obtained. Other cities and lands will wage wars...wars that sometimes cannot be prevented no matter how much the people desire peace." She suddenly realized that she was beginning to lose the shield of E'vesash she had placed over herself...more of who she was was beginning to show through...hopefully Legolas would not notice for the moment. The maiden cleared her throat and cast her gaze over the wall to the lands beyond. "The white city cannot stand forever." She murmured.

Legolas nodded in agreement. "I thought it was so once...some time ago... A time when I stood upon the fields and watched as we were surrounded by our enemy... But then, it was as if the great sea rose up, and swept us over them, sending them crashing against the ground as we trampeled them down. They fell... There is a power here that cannot be conquered...a power that somehow gives strength greater than all others. Never before have I seen a people so determined to win in their hour of test. No... Though in the end time itself may send it crashing down into the sea, armies cannot quench the desire of this people to stand again adversity..."

Legolas' words somewhat angered Alatariel, for no matter what she said against his thinking, she could not get him to see things her way. She kept her eyes straight ahead, knowing that if she did not calm herself, she would give away her cover with harsh words. "Well, nevermind the topic of Gondor. Though it is indeed a city to be reckoned with." That much she would admit. "How are the people faring after the recent attack on the city's walls?"

"You saw yourself the damage of the attack, but so far as I have ventured today, the walls received little damage and other than the fright of the entire engagement, they have received nothing more damaging than the fact that they are now in fear of further attacks."

Alatariel nodded her head, lifting her face to the evening's breeze as they walked along. As they meandered through the city, she felt something snap at the back of her neck and the fine gold chain that supported a red ruby fell with a jingle to the ground. It was nothing like the emerald the E'vesash wore about her own neck. She glanced over toward Legolas...certainly he had seen it. But she couldn't be certain, so she reached down and scooped it up. The one thing that would betray her.

Legolas had begun to fall into a dreamy mentality until he heard the ping of metal against stone. His eyes glanced down in time to see Alatariel picking up some object and once against clasping it around her neck. He paid no heed to the matter, thinking it only some piece which she wore. The night was utterly silent as they continued on through the city.
As their walk was coming to an end, Legolas felt a slight uneasiness. It was like a nagging idea, growing...gnawing at him. He was confused as they continued on until once again they were near the dwelling. Evy... Why? Why did his mind seem to search for her when she walked beside him?
Legolas glanced down at Alatariel, uttering a name quietly. "Evy..."
