Legolas put his hand down upon his quiver which sat upon a table near the door along with his great bow. These he took up, clasping the quiver of arrows upon his back and holding the longbow in his hand. His eyes narrowed and he stopped with his hand still upon the latch of the door. Releasing it he moved back slowly, turning to his wife. He said nothing for a time, contemplating what he should do.
He had denied her the request to fight beside him once before... No...he could not do it again. She had a will, a desire to fight. Who was he to deny her that?
His hand came to rest against her cheeck and he held her head tenderly in his hand, smiling at her, setting a kiss upon her lips.
"Only so long as you fight beside me... I could not bare to lose you..."

E'vesash's eyes lit up slightly at his words. She had not expected to here them, or anything of the sort. It was not that she longed for fighting or for war, but she did long to help when the time came and it was neccessary. She wanted to be a part of what was going on...to make a difference. "Nor I you...but I am glad you will let me come." She parted from him for a brief moment, as she went to change and fetch her own bow. It would be rather difficult to fight in such a gown as she had worn. When she returned, she was clad in a blue traveling garment of thick leathers...it would provide her protection and ease of movement.
"Alright, let us be off." E'vesash placed a brief kiss upon his lips in return, her emerald gaze locking with his once more.

(We can post in "the final hour" now.)
Legolas and E'vesash were soon off, racing through the city, making their way to the outer defenses. The beating of the drums had grown ever-louder as if calling the warriors of Gondor to arms. The horns of the Gondorians sounded in answer as the husband and wife came at last to the great wall...

E'vesash returned to her home, quite wearied, and alone. It had been a trying day...and the faces of the enemy were grotesque, ever sticking in her mind. They would most likely recurr in her dreams, but for now she would think no more of it. She meandered through the dwelling place until she came to the bedroom. The satin sheets of softest green seemed to call out her name. And so she went to them - her delicate form collapsing upon the top, her eyelids slowly coming to a close. Oh, how good it felt to rest and be at peace. The thought of war came again to her mind but now she could not push the thoughts from her head. Evy turned her face downward and wept into her pillow. Perhaps this was one time that E'vesash wished the emotions of elves were not felt so fully.

Legolas' light footfalls were soon heard entering the dwelling. His bow was laid down once more upon the small table in the entry of the large room and he released a low groan as his quiver also fell against the weapon. The quiet weeping of his wife was more than audible to him and it was not long before he perceived that it came from their bedchamber.
He entered the room slowly, spotting Evy's slender form flailed against the bed. The covers were scattered and her face was all but visible as she lay with her head burried in the soft cushion. Legolas moved towards her, taking a seat on one side of the bed, allowing his hand to fall against her back working its way in slow motions against her body.
She was in distress, that much had been plain to him. The nature as to her distress was also clear to him. He had seen the terror in her eyes as she beheld the many forms of the enemy. Her fear did not take hold of her though, and in spite of her anxiety she did not fail him. She was weary as he was, and all he could do was to acknowledge that he knew what she felt.

E'vesash was startled by the sudden appearance of her husband. She felt his gentle and reassuring touch against her back, and it only caused the tears to flow more freely. She turned her head so that she could see him, attempting to brush away some of the wetness from her cheeks with her hand. Short breaths shook her body as she tried to regain her control. "Why does this affect me so?" She whispered to Legolas. "I have seen the face of the enemy many times...but now I cannot get this images from my head." Evy curled herself up, looking like a lost child, her face still resting against the soft pillow.

Legolas took her hands in his, rubbing them tenderly. "These things cannot be explained my love. Fear is a powerful enemy, but not one that might be overpowered. You are strong Evy...stronger than any I have ever known. Do not be ashamed of one event...one toss of fate."
Legolas leaned forward, setting a gentle kiss upon her forehead as he gaze down into her eyes. "Do not fear Evy..."

E'vesash looked up at him once more, her emerald eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and joy. She rolled onto her side to better view him, offering a slight smile at his words. "I am not afraid for myself..." She whispered, placing a hand upon his arm. She brushed further tears from her cheeks, gaining more control over her composure. "But the images...they will not leave my mind." Her eyes clouded slightly, but she attempted to push the feeling away.

Legolas kissed her once more, holding her gaze as he watched the tears begin to subside. "They are the pain of war my love...that which all who partake of its vengeance must endure. Many still crowd in my mind, tearing at me, seeking to pull me down in a fit of madness. They are engraved upon my thoughts forever..."

E'vesash listened once more to his words closing her eyes as she let out a shuddering sigh, releasing some of the tension that had built up within her. A cool breeze blew into the chamber, and she revelled in it. It cooled and dried the last remnants of tears that lingered upon her skin. "Nay...I do fear. I fear sleep, and the horrible dreams that will haunt me. I fear waking from it and finding that the dreams have come to be. Sleep will not find me."

Legolas watched her, his gaze fixed upon her eyes. No words were spoken between them for some time. What power did he have to erase the memory of things passed? None... He was not gifted as others...but there was one... Legolas' face lit up in hope as he rose from the bed.
"Come my love. There is still one within the great walls of the city who has a power over darkness..."

E'vesash was startled by his sudden rising, and she raised a brow in confusion. She forced herself to sit up, watching him. "Of what do you speak?" There was a slight uneasiness in her voice as she stood, brushing her hair back over her shoulders, in attempt to better her appearance.

Legolas watched her rise and put his arms around her, massaging her back in a comforting embrace.
"Envinyatar is of a noble people... I have seen his work before, and I will ask that he aid us if he can..."

E'vesash's eyes widened slightly at the mention of Evinyatar's name. Such a high role he held. "Nay." She said somewhat firmly as she backed away. "I do not want him to see me so weakened. Besides...why would such a noble be interested in my troubles?" She seated herself once more upon the bed, her eyes holding concern as she watched Legolas' expression.

Legolas kneeled down in front of her, still holding her hands in his grasp. "Besides yourself I have had no dearer friend...one who has stood beside me in through all my hardships. Nothing have I asked of him before, and if it is in his power to aid us I do not doubt that he would be willing."
Legolas' eyes spoke his despair...to see his wife in such misery due to nothing more than a fear. It pained him too much to know that she would lie many sleepless nights because of such a fear. He had to try... "I can't bear to see you like this Evy...to know that you hurt..."
