My pet peeve? In a word, god-mode-and-any-other-unbalancing-action (see, it's one word because of the dashes ;D ). Now, I know we all sometimes god-mode when not meaning to, but excessive god-mode or not rewriteing your post once it's pointed out takes all the enjoyment out of RP. I can't remember the exact wording, but this happened about a year ago on another site having nothing to do with LotR:

Ash (Shorter and modified by memory): My character leaps into the air twirling his blade as the sun shines off of it and brings it down aimed at his opponent's chest.

No-Good-God-Moder: My character already predicted your attack with his psychic powers so he blocks it with one unarmored finger and grabs your sword. Then he kicks you in the chest so you fall to the ground.

Ash: WTH?

Yeah, I pretty much hate god-mode. If you ever catch me reverting to that slimy, disgusting habit, yell at me or something would y'all?

I'll happily god mod against myself, in fact it's really the only fun way to do it, I agree, it makes everything go flat . In fact it's more fun sometimes to be surprised , roll with what's happening, even if you loose/get hurt, more realistic.

OMG I know exactly what you're talking about! Lets be real here, it was that Realms of Arda site. Im not giving a link, but the admin was an idiot. He has had several other sites before and all have failed since. But anyway, those where exactly like the one he has now. The sex posts are probably about 50% of the board's threads and the roleplaying there is appaling.

I noticed the same thing was happening at Lands of Arda. I'm assuming it's the same dude. The admin said someone reported them and if the site isn't shut down by Thursday, which it's still up, then he wouldn't worry. I noticed alot of people deleted characters there.

I'm sorry, but I don't think sex was done like that in Arda. I think there was more romance.

It's the same site, and the same guy. But some girl had to go through with a rape, which she complained about to another girl on PM. She should not have had to, she should have just posted the response.
' **** OFF, you must be kidding.' I don't know if it was the Admin or some-one else, but it all got well out of hand. The amusing thing was that he accused the people who actually spent time role playing, and writing long posts and trying to inject some depth and intelligence to the place of not being able to Role Play. I think the guy is totally dense. His rp-ing is purely porn, and nothing else, he couldn't write anything else if you shoved a gun up his arse.
But I have to say that the girls shouldn't go along with it. That's bad news, it makes it look as if most girls are slappers. People should totally boycott him and his sites, but because he has no standards, he attracts those kind of people. If that's the kind of site he wants, which was shallow, boring, except for a few people who worked their butts of trying to give it some sort of storyline, let him wallow in it.
He deleted so many sex theads on there! Probably about 40 % of the site, I was told. Four people reported him, and if he keeps the sex threads off general where any-one can view them, I expect Proboards won't bother to close him, but he will be monitored.

Women prefer a bit of romance, ( life has shown me ) unless they're so lacking in self-worth they'll take any attention they can get. Okay, my character is evil to women , but not an oaf!

Valdrik's point about ooc battles, yes , there were a lot on that site, and I know what he means, it makes me bite my desk. In the end you don't bother, you know it's always going to end up the same way.

This place sounds like a hellhole for someone who actually cares, and a haven for low-lifes and perverts. Glad I never played there. I hate lots of OOC in battles, too - that's like (as I said) one of the most dramatic things we do here, and a lot of OOC really bogs it down. I had to repair my monitor screen after one on another site.

And, no, Jacky - I meant another Council of Elrond - Tony and Mark will remember...

I hate god modding the most, but also some simple spelling and grammatical errors is irksome as well.
I've heard of that Arda site but I had no idea it was THAT messed up, that admin is sick.

That's what you get when people watch the films a couple of times, can't be arsed to read the books or even look up anything of a Tolkien site, and there's simply no cohesion, no depth, no anything. It isn't roleplaying, it's glorfied MSN for people who want to ponce around with swords, bows and old fashioned clothes .

What I like about this site is there's a lot of imagination, but actually nothing that could not conceivably be ' Tolkien '. Or if there is, I haven't read it yet.
