I like the posting on here, people take time and make the effort, and draw their characters and the developing of them well. I'm not saying other sites don't, of course, but it's rare to see so many good posters on one site.

Thank you, that's very nice of you. I know what you mean - I've been on many a site, and so many of the members post quick, little two-sentence posts. I like to think that the calibre of CoG members is at least a little higher. Except for Mark. Ya never know about him.
jk mark!

LMAO Yeh we're a good posting family. Sometimes a few of us don't get along so easily but we do get along. We're one big, happy family, full of great RPers. Except Mark. LOL

What makes me smile is that way back when these MB's started, every-one wanted to be Galadriel, Arwen, Legolas, etc and live in the Elf Kingdoms. Now, much more people seem to want to develop other characters, Men, Istari, part Ainur, evil, complex , ( actually more interesting, in my humble opinion ) The way it's developed is very interesting. The very first site I was on, people bent over backwards to explain that they were * not * evil, as if they were terrified some-one would start crying, ' Yes we live in Mordor and we're evil - but please come and use the pub, ' It was deadly dull, so I decided to create an evil, amoral, wicked character to spice things up, and the wailing and gnashing of teeth that was heard! Fortunately, some enjoyed it, and began to think it was more realistic - and I enjoyed it much more. People are more free and creative now, proper role playing/acting/writing

I agree, Its such a breath of fresh air as it was. The first RPG I joined for LOTR and the first RPG that the character of Anwyn for, EVERYBODY wanted to be an Elf, and it was so abseloutely cookie cutter. Honestly, I didn't even have to read the profiles becuase they all had the same history. Born of Elven parents, elven parents killed in some kind of terrible attack or tragedy and becuase of that they learned to be excellent warriors, male or female, both the same. Oh, and they were also incredibly attractive of course. Now don't get me wrong, I have abseloutely nothing against elven characters. But when every other person playing with you is a blonde hair blue eyed elf that has amazing accuracy with a bow and is also stunning with a sword and does nothing but go on about vision and dreams...It makes you want bang your head off the desk for a few minutes I was the only mortal character, other than Aragorn, Eomer, Thoeden....As time went on more slightly different characters started to filter in, a wizard there, another ranger here but things basically stayed the same. So to come to a site like this with all this different variety in characters, Its just amazing.

Ooh, I hate that. **shudders** And almost everyone is blond. That just adds insult to injury. I have no elven characters, no blond characters, (but I'm thinking of taking Imladris, just because I kinda want to rule) and they're varied - bounty hunters, mercenaries, thieves, rogues, assassins, mages, bards. I love RP at CoE and MonkeyGames, though because it's not as canon as here... (sorry! hope that was not offensive) Ya know what else bothers me? That Legolas somehow seems to be the elven incarnation of Henry VIII - he appears to have innumerable girlfriends, wives, and lovers of all sorts. Doesn't anyone hit on Éomer or Faramir? =P (besides me )

Right On! XD
I agree about Legolas being the biggest player EVER in Middle Earth. Sometimes I think that boys purposely are the first to claim him so that they can have many girls clambering to get to him.
On the topic of Blonde characters, Since Anwyn is Rohirrim...Its a genetic thing. Not many dark hair Rohirrim walking around, lol
I totally didn't mean to de-rail this thread
*Ponders starting RP Pet Peeves thread*

Good idea, Anwyn. But I'll add one more hting first. =P
I had a Rohirric character once, so of course she was blonde, and of course Anwyn is blond (ironic thing is, my charry was called Anówyn =P ). But a lot of Imladris elves are dark-haired. Lóriens are mainly fair, Mirkwoods and Mithlonds are a mix I think.
Neither have I, that may have something to do with their absense from LotR, but I don't know. If you are concerned, why don't you make one? That's what I do when I think of a good character, which might be why I have so many and many are underdeveloped and some disowned. =P
