Fox walked in and took a seat at a corner table. It had been several years since his last visit to Bree and to the Prancing Pony, though, everything seemed the same as his last visit. A waitress came, and he ordered ale and a meal.

Vaire visited Bree, the first time since long. She came by foot over the Great East Road and had walked many miles. Now she grew weary and tired and desired a warm place with a hearty meal and a hot spiced ale. She knew the Prancing Pony from tales and entered it with anticipation. The door opened and a cloud of smoke waved over her head into the fresh air. She grinned, because she had learned the art of smoking pipeweed and was proud of her own little leaf in her garden. The room was crowded and the only place to sit was at a corner table together with a stranger. She went over to him. "My lord, forgive me that I ask, but may I take place besides you? It seems all tables are taken and I am weary after a long walk from the shire. My name is Vaire."

Fox looked up, laughing, " 'my lord,'..?" He glanced around. "Oh, you were speaking to me. I'm no 'lord', just call me Fox." He smiled motioned her to sit, "By all means, have a seat, Vaire." He then waved to the waitress, motioning her back to the table.

She smiled and took seat. The waitress came back and Vaire ordered a meal and spiced hot ale. She looked at the stranger. "Well than, Fox. Its a pleasure to meet you. What brings you to Bree, if I may ask? We don't see many Elves in this side of Arnor lately." She grinned. "Except a few like me," she added. The waitress came with a thick stew and the Ale and Vaire thanked her and started to eat heartly.

Fox took a sip of his ale, and then answered Vaire's question. "I came here to sell and trade furs,... well, thats the offical reason. My trading allows me to get out and about. I'm not one to stick to one place for too long." He took another sip of ale then looked back at Vaire, "And what is it that draws you from the Shire? And for that matter, what is an elf as yourself doing living among the halflings?"

She laughed. "Ah well, I know it seems odd. That shirefolk is amazing and funny. But really they got my heart. I went through their little country and there is so much beauty in this lands. Not just from the nature, also from the love the people put in it. And they are great gardeners. Never seen such gardens outside of the elven realms. But at most I like it, because it is so quiet but still not lonely." She looked at her meal and knibbled at her lip. "Now I talk and talk and my meal is getting cold. Excuse me Fox, but to see the face of a kindsman tempted me to get swept away by my talking."

Fox shrugged, "Well, I suspect I've seen elves living in stranger places. Once even met one that lived with the dwarves,... imagine that.. " He took a few bites of his meal and washed it down with more ale. "Where are you from? That is, before you took up residence in the Shire?"

"With dwarves?" disgust shadowed her face and she shoke her head. "I am comming from Lothlorien." Vaire smiled by the thought about the golden Woods.

Fox laughed, "Yes, how he dealt with the smell is beyond me. Lothlorien is a nice forest. I wander there often in search of game. I myself live in Mirkwood.. when I'm not traveling that is."

"I never entered the borders of Mirkwood. How is it? I heared about cruel animals, spiders and other creatures of the dark, creeping there through the remaining shadows. My family lived in Lothlorien since I remember. We used to go to fangorn sometimes - before the dark grew again in the east. And we journeyed to Rivendell here and than. But farer tan Rivendell we never went, except one time when my family headed to the Grey Havens."

Fox nodded. "Yes, there are many interesting creatures in the dark woods of Mirkwood. Of course, thats what gives the place such character. I couldn't count on all my fingers and toes the number of foolish travlers I've had to cut from spider webs. Living in depths of Mirkwood will keep your senses honed - I quite enjoy it."

Doren arrived in The Inn of the Prancing pony after a long ride from Annuminas to the Barrow Downs where he surveyed the actions of the Breelanders in the tombs of old. All relics of the downs were taken and hidden. This day however was a time for happiness and so Doren seated himself in the corner with two odd fellows, obviously of elven kind.
Doren smiled to the two and noticed one to be a fair elvish woman and the other a man. "Not often that we see elven kind visiting Bree."
The Inn was dark and the smoke from other customers wifted in his face, aiding the disguise of his features wich were shadowed by the hood of his Dunedain garb.

Fox looked inquisitively at the newcomer. "And not often do cloaked shadowy figures join me for a meal." Fox laughed. Fox once again motioned for the waitress to return, "I suspet you will be joining us in an ale, if not a meal as well."

Vaire looked at the Dunedain and greeted him with a nodd. "Both are quite good in the "Pony". But I guess as one of the ranger, you knows that already," she smiled and looked crafty at Fox. "So, you are cutting careless strangers out of the webs in Mirkwood? Thats a honourable job. I don't want even image how many may got caught now, when Fox isn't available."
