A remnant of the great forests of Middle-earth in the Second Age; most of these forests were felled by the Númenóreans, but two isolated woodlands remained. The Old Forest was the northern of these two (the other being Fangorn in the south), on the eastern borders of the Shire.

Siranna walked among the trees gazing at their beauty and age. These trees were old, very yet life continued to flow through them she knew. It calmed her, forests did, like they had a power over her. She walked among them, listening to the songs carried by the wind, those sung the trees of old.

Doren sat atop his white steed as it trotted through The Old Forest. He loved the lands of Hobbiton and Bree especially in Middle Earth for there war was something that was rarely discussed. He often travelled there as a rest from the babblings of councilors and pleeds of the peasants of Annuminas. Now he wanted to relax among the ancient trees though he knew they could be dangerous. He spied a figure also walking amongst the trees from the corner of his eyes "Good day, stranger!"

Siranna turned to the voice slightly startled. "Oh, hello." She replied.

"Ah, an elf! Rarely do we see elves in these parts. Where dost thee hail from, Lady Elf?"

"You must be quite the traveller then Lady elf. I reside here in Arnor. This is my home. Oh, I am sorry. Forgive my manners. My name is Doren and what may I ask is your name?"

"Just travelling. I guess I decided that I might as well travel as much as possible while Mordor and the other realms are quiet."

"I see. You expect another war don't you? Well I doubt that another will come. These are happy times, Lady Siranna. Enjoy them but do not expect them to end too soon. I myself travel down to the forest from Annuminas every so often so that I may escape my duties if only for a time and rest."

"True happiness and light is a dream for every good man but in out hearts we know that there is no good without bad, no light without darkness, not joy without fear. It is a shadow over life. However we mustn't look to it in a bad way. It is there and that is all. I hope we have long times of this light but at some point darkness shall try to evade but as long as we hold onto faith and light, then light shall prevail in each battle and so restore the peace that we see before our very eyes now."

"I understand what you say. North of the Elven land of Rivendell lie the Trollshaws, haunt of Trolls. Even in the elven lands of Eregion, orcs from the mountains are colonizing. I know it may be something one does not wish to consider in the forest but just east of here in the Barrow Downs, evil spirits known as Barrow Wights dwell in the tombs. They were sent by the Witch King, Murazor of Angmar during the wars bewteen Arnor and Angmar. Even now Angmar in the North, and Moria to the East is infested with orcs and goblins, and the wildmen live in Dunland just south of our borders."
"I heed your council, but it is unhealthy for one to dwell on such things. I prefer to think of the happiness that has come about now that Sauron is gone and Lord Ellessar governs Gondor. The people of Gondor have aided us in restoring our ancient cities and ports. Even small businesses destroyed by Sharky and his men when he invaded The Shire. As you may see Arnor has suffered many tragedies. We do not like to think of them although we know that they are part of our history and we must."

"The trees are dangerous when roused. It would be foolhardy to harvest wood here, but yes you are correct. We have tried to preserve the forest none-the-less. The trees are so ancient. People claim even that the trees speak sometimes. Strange but not impossible when you consider the Ents and the Huorns of Fangorn. There is a tree by the river that some call 'Old Man Willow'. I wonder why sometimes"
