~ The Second Trial of Single Combat ~
Upon a plain of the Pelennor, south of the White City, a large space of grass had been plowed under into a rectangle of soft, brown sand. About this sand was set a fence of white wood, and flags and streamers ran from the poles of the fence. Pavilions and tents clustered round the field, and within the high pavilion at the center of the field's side sat the Lord Aragorn, here to moderate this the first event of the Trial of Lords. At his right hand sat his bride, the Fair Arwen Evenstar, come hither to observe the match, to have a glass of winel with her husband, and to offer advice should the match prove difficult to judge. This is the second of the trials in single combat, and the contestants of this event are to be the Lord Garland, honourable ruler of Moria, and the dauntless Lord of distant Khand, Lancir. Even now they enter the field at opposing ends, and now the crowds assembled cheer for them. Bowing to one another at distance, they make their way to the Pavilion of Lords to take the Cup of Tournament, and to pay homage to the Lord of the Trials ere the event begins. Aragorn rises, and all follow his lead as the contestants draw nigh. Aragorn proffers them the Cup, they drink, and bow to all assembled, and then walk to their places at opposite ends of the field.
Aragorn drops his hand and sits, and the Second Trial is begun.

Garland entered the arena, tossing his cape to the side and drawing his sword. He had a bow and quiver on his back and also a short sword at his hip, he was wearing his finest armor as well.

Garland paced around Lancir, watching him "You may proceed, my friend. I will give you the honor of the first strike..... since the last will be mine." Garland taunted him to attack.

Lancir smiled as he drew a blade slowly and circled around garland waiting waiting for the right moment and as he saw an opening in garlands defencive stance he lunged swingging at his leg

Garland parried Lancir's swing, his sword meeting with the steel of Lancir's at knee level. With Lancir's low lunge towards the leg, Garland saw opportunity to strike high. Quickly as the two blades met one another, Garland drew with his free hand the short sword at his hip - swinging it forcfully at Lancir's unprotected neck.

Garland smirked. "Best not be loosing your head." Garland paced around him once more, spinning his sword as he circled. As the blade twirled once more and came to a halt Garland took a diagonal swipe towards Lancir's sword arm.

Garland was a bit suprised by Lancir's dagger, getting a bit of a cut before fending the blade off with is short sword. As he did this he kicked hard with his boot at Lancir's knee, spun himself on his other foot to Lancir's side and then jabbed towards Lancir's ribs with his short sword.

Garland readied his defense as Lancir spoke and brought his sword swiftly against Lancir's stike at his neck. His blade met with Lancir's and they were now locked together as Lancir pushed towards his neck and Garland pushed back. Garland watched Lancir carefully, watching and waiting for an opportunity to strike with his short sword.

Garland held strong against Lancir's sword, holding the blade off with his own, keeping them locked. He watched as Lancir's hand thrust quickly with the dagger, yet instead of parrying he stabbed forward to Lancir's throat with the short sword. Garland clenched his teeth as he felt Lancir's blade slicing the skin on his side, but smirked knowing that the thrust with his short sword had no blade to block it from slidding through Lancir's throat.
