Alcorad glided silently overhead on his menacing Fell Beast. Below all was dark and silent still after the murder in Edoras. Still the dried blood was caked acros the Dark Lord's face and his crimson eyes were still alive with the exhilleration granted to him by his previous prey.
Slowly the mountain, Methedras, came into view and below the valley of Nan Curunir and the Numenorean jewel, Orthanc. Alcorad's winged behemoth looked down towards the tower of Orthanc and with the slight shift of Alcorad's weight, it turned downwards and made its landing beside the tall tower. Alcorad leapt from the creature's back and slowly shifted to the doors of Orthanc. He ascended the stiarway and pulled open the Numenorean stone doorway.
Slowly Alcorad passed into the dim, empty shadows of the old stronghold of Saruman the Wise. Small candles dimly flickered as the last remnants of any life that still lingered in the empty place. It was quite obvious that the lords of the reunited kingdom were still arguing on the subject of who to bestow the tower upon. Such late decision making would take a punishing blow to the world of the free.
Alcorad looked up to a spralling staircase and passed out of the main hall up into the inner sanctum of Orthanc. As the finely crafted, spiraling stairs came to an end, a large door became visible through the dark with a small stone handle. Alcorad turned it gently and slunk into what appeared to be Orthanc's study. At its center was a tall island in the floor with a basin on its surface. Alcorad approached the basin and ran his fingers through its contents and raising his hand, allowing the products of Saruman's sorceries to filter through the creases. Alcorad smiled as he had found the location he had been searching for and looked to the side of the basin to find papers, a rather large stack of them. One by one, he scanned the papers contents until his knowledge was peaked of the nature of the black powder. He chuckled in mirth and rolled up the papers, stowing them within his cloak. Without so much as a word he opened the doors of Orthanc and descended the spiralling staircase, passing beyond the Doors of Orthanc and mounting his beast. "Farewell." Alcorad said in a dark tone and lifted into the sky, out of the reach of any enemy.
