As the sun had risen in the west, it had been swollowed by the ever growing shadow in the east. All though there were hopefuls, thinking that the golden age was still in its prime, if only everyone could have such faith in that mere ounce of hope, which withered away faster then then ruins of Arnor. Those who saw through this lie were the Soldiers, and the lords of Gondor....
They had seen the horrors reaped by the departure of Gondors king, the Son of Aragorn seemed it his task to go through the ventures that his father took , venturing into the wild, like a fool. When his people needed him, where his armies needed a leader, where Gondor needed a king... it finally fell to the lords of Gondor to take action and thus war brewed between Harad and Gondor, at sea.. Neither could afford to leave each others realm to siege the other, they could only fight where the brave and the strong survied, the harsh sea...
That was the end of the record being scribbled furiously upon the parchment....
Now moving his stool away from his desk, Balan stood tall and mighty moving towards the balcony of his rooms at the grand palace of Dol Amroth. His eyes moved from the white sails with the silver tree and golden stars of the fleet, to the silver moon whose light wavered as his hazel worn eyes looked towards the desolate lands of Harad upon the horizon.... The fleet had not been back for 2 days before it was exspected to set sail again, with him at the helm, they had heard news of some Pirate scum under the name of Basil, he knew not if he was a man or a myth, but it would die faster then those caught in a sand storm in Harad.

Arawyn walked over to the balconey and smiled seeing her friend atop it. She knew what he was thinking about for he had already told her and yet she was worried for him. She sighed and then called up to her friend seeing if he'd come down or she could go atop. It seemed he needed to talk, or perhaps it was just her views. The two had been best friends since they were little. They often even confided as well. He was a good friend and Arawyn was always glad to be with him.

As Balans gazed returned he saw the star of his heart below, one he had been with since his youngest days, the only one who was still alive, for his friends were of great decent, and they took to much pride in there prowess in battle, and they fell, after taking many a foe with them, his heart wept no more for them, he only looked to them for inspiration and that was all..
And from atop his words were carried by the wind to the star below, "Oh fair lady of the night what brings thee to fair Dol-Amroth?" He now drew himself to full height looking proud to those who looked upon him.

Arawyn giggled and looked back at him. "I thought I'd visit a dear friend before he ventured onto the deserts." She said simply, her gray eyes looking upon him, smirking at his proudness.

"Oh dear lady, I venture not into the desert, only accross the harsh sea, to war of a differnt kind, thought i prefer solid land beneath me, as i can run faster then i can swim ?" he grinned slightly, though the joy left him, he had seen warriors drown and it was a harsh sight to watch, he wished no one a death like that..

"You fear going?" She asked him curiously, a brow raised. "Do you fear the sea claiming men in it's wrath it has done in the past soo many times?" She asked him, wrapping her cloak about her tighter as the sun fell and the moon rose to shine upon the sleeping.

"No my lady, i do not fear the sea" he lied, "I just hope the gods dont sink my pretty boat, though they can feel free to smite my enemy for that would save many a life to fight another day, to love those they cherrish for that bit longer nefore they depart yet again." His words were interwined like thread with hope and sorrow, either one could turn the balance of a battle.
"Now my lady i ask thee again what brings such a lady as your self to Dol-Amroth?" he said, he always tryed to shift thew subject from war if he could, he diidnt like it infecting his other life, the one with tranquility, the one where there was no Pain, or suffering, it was a fools world indeed.

"And like I said, I came to see you. Am I no longer allowed to visit the friend I hold dear? Or does he wish me to depart to my abode over the hills?" She replied, her voice sweetly flowing in his hears, looking up at him, her face warm and cheery. Her eyes bright..

"I wish thee to to enter my home for what little time we can spare, then we may share the tales we have missed in the others life." He said backing away from the balcony, as Arawyn silently through the door way.

She smiled and walked in. She hugged Balan when she saw him, her eyes sparkling as she looked up at him. "It seems you have fared well the days I have been gone no?" She asked, glad to see her best friend once again.
He had changed greatly in the few monthes she had been gone, and from what she had heard, fairly busy too. "I have heard some news in the city. They believe that one of Lord Aragorn's children are still here and our to take the throne. What if it's you?" She teased playfully, walking over to the couch and sitting down, her head resting on her hand, her eyes looking over at him as she awaited a reply. The sun shining on them, warming her back that faced it.

"One of his children is before me.... and the heir has fled... and nay i am only the protector of the throne , nothing more nothing less my lady" he said with a slight tone starting to learn backwards against the wall, taking a pipe form a near by table.
His guest had already found some where tos it and rest, she looked fairer then he had ever saw her as she looked upon his clean face, yet not his dark soul..

"Who do you think will take hold? Whoever it is I hope they turn this place around." Avalon sighed and looked at him, noticing an unusual darkness in his eyes which quickly vanished. "Balan? In the time i have been gone, has anything... strange happen?" She asked him curiously.
