Oropher looked at her as she refilled her glass. He set his own down, done with it. He could see the slight confusion of her features. She didn't hate him instantly or pity him. She didn't know what to feel towards him, which was a reaction he was not yet use to. He then heard her question and thought about it." Yes I suppose it is. I have grown use to being treated unfairly and cruely for my mixed blood. So I have learned that if no one learns of it, I am not hurt." He said gently." That was why I lashed out back at the Tavern." He was now offering a more indepth explanation for his actions earlier." I was worried about you learning of it, infront of all those soldiers. I wasn't in the mood to have a sword inside me." He said with a small smile.

Vána frowned, "They would not kill someone for mixed blood here. After Queen Galadriel's grandchildren were half-elven." She was silent a moment, trying to think of what to say. "Just because you have mixed bloody does not mean you cannot be great."

" I know a few dozen Elves who would beg to differ with that statement." He laughed lightly. It felt good to talk to someone about this, no one had ever really known much about him and although he doubted she would learn that much before his departure, he could still get a few things off his chest." True, maybe they wouldn't have killed me but that wasn't a risk I was willing to take." He said shrugging his shoulders and looking up at her." My life is filled with enough problems, I don't like going out of my way to create new ones." He said in a simple tone. He had grown use to this life, he did not like it, but was use to it.

"It is terrible that Elves treat their own this way. I cannot say as I know any humans, but I am sure they are not horrible monsters," she seemed puzzled, this wasn't a topic of conversation she got into often. She knew Elves would bicker amongs eachother as any civilization did, they were not the shy forest dwellers she knew humans thought them to be. "Just because others have been cruel to you does not mean everyone will."

Oropher just shook his head lightly." In the eyes of most Elves I am not one of your kind." He said sadly." I am something else to them which makes no sense to me. I have every quality you do, my human heritage has not changed me at all." This subject had always filled him with rage. He was an Elf, no matter what others thought." I have met humans." He said with a small smile looking up at her." Amazing creatures, they are capable of so much, even with there short lives." Oropher then heard her last words and looked down." I have met enough who have gone out of there way to destroy me. My mother, you, and maybe three others have been the only ones to show me kindness." Oropher said sadly." It is hard for me to believe that there are many who would treat me as an equal."

Vána did feel sorry for him, but not because of the way people treated him. She felt sorry for him because he could not seem to see the good that was still in this world, that not all beings were cold-hearted and cruel. "It is not as if you go around tell everyone you meet that you are only half-elven. Many would not say anything unless you said something first, for your look favor your Elven blood not the mortal."
