Saeros nodded. "Go ahead and take a nap." He pointed to a shelf with books. "I'll have a look what Lord Garlands taste in literature may be." He went over to them and looked at the bindings. "Ah, the time wount be long. Here is a lot about the history of Khazad Dum in the elder days," he said and took one out for a closer look.

Aragorn nodded and chuckled as the Elf examined Garland's shelves, then threw himself upon his bed, admonishing Saeros to be sure and rouse him after ninety minutes, at which time he would take the watch.

Saeros agreed and settled down at the fire with one of the books. After a while the hallway outside of the chambers fell quiet and a little bit later he put the book back into the shelf and went to wake Aragorn. "Its time for you to get up. There is hot water left if you need to refresh." he said quietly.

Aragorn groaned inwardly a little as his joints creaked when he rose, but he clapped Saeros upon the back and bade him take his rest. He splashed water upon his face and blinked into the fire, and soon enow he was awake fully. He paced about the room, oft pausing at the door to listen to open it a slight crack, but little enough at all was there to be seen or heard.
Nearly two hours had come when he walked back to the bed and shook his comrade awake. "Come, let us begone," said he. He had already changed into a simple leather shirt and breeches, such as he might sleep in, with slippers and his sword belt fastened on like a man in a dream might have. The sight was quite comical to good Saeros.

He chuckled and bit himself on his lips not to burst out in laughter when Saeros saw Aragorns outfit. He was full awake immediatly after his comrade woke him up and geared up himself a little bit more seriously. "Lets see, what we can find." he grinned and followed Aragorn to the door.

Aragorn poked his keen nose outside the door, but there was such an amalgam of scents that even his sharp senses were nearly at a loss. But his head was still firmly upon his shoulders, and he recalled with precision their course earlier that day. He led Saeros, then, along the corridors until the came nigh the passage which had been filled in at the end. His feet, lightly shod in his leather slippers made no sound upon the cold stone.

Saeros elvish steps was loudless as well when he followed Aragorn through the halls and tunnels of Khazad Dum. They reached the filled passage and Saeros started to investigate the filling more intensely than he could before. Aragorn looked at him questioning but Saeros shoke his head. He made quick a handsign that the passage was totally blocked and no way to get through it from this side. He raised his eyebrow to ask what they should do next.

Aragorn motioned for Saeros to follow him, though not too close upon his heels that the illusion of pursuing a sleepwalker might be plausible should they be discovered. Then he rather stumbled, silently though, around several corners, making his way toward something which had resembled a council chamber when they had passed it by earlier that day. He thought perhaps to investigate and discover if there were any papers or other records which might aid them.

Saeros followed Aragorn in a quite distant until they reached the council chambers. They were abandoned and dark and it seemed nobody took notice of their aproach. They slipped through the door and saw that the first room was only filled by seats, but when they went further, they found a locked door.

Aragorn took in the silent room at a glance, and swiftly saw the door ahead. He motioned Saeros to again follow at a distance, and strode over to open the door in the opposite wall. It opened with a creak, and Aragorn flinched at the sound, but as no one came for some few moments, he opened it wide and entered. Its walls were covered by shelves, and upon these were stacked several sheaves of paper, records apparently, perhaps of meetings held within the adjacent hall. He took one down carefully and began to read it.

Saeros throw a glance into the room when Aragorn opened it, but placed himself with a drawn sword in a hidden position, from where he could overlook if somebody of Garlands men showed up.

Aragorn rifled through many of the papers, and indeed they were records of the meetings that had been held in this council chamber. He was puzzled, for there were references to one Minos, whom he did not know, but also to what seemed to be two Garlands, or two men with that name. That was odd.

Saeros throw a glance to the chamber, but Aragorn seemed to be still busy. He focused his attention again on the hallways and doors, but the silent remained.

Two men with the name Garland? This could not be, though Aragorn. Though, upon reflection, it explained the confusion in the great meeting in Minas Tirith some months before. And the way in which these papers referred to this second Garland was not pleasant, as though he was a man terrible to offend. Aragorn would prefer not to gain first-hand knowledge of this. So he copied down onto his hand some few things which he gleaned from the papers with an inkwell and quill nearby, and then he turned to go.

Saeros saw Aragorn comming out of the chamber and shoke his head. Nobody was seen and he had the keen eyes and ears of an elve and would have noticed if there were somebody lurking.
