While Morsereg, most of the hoardes of Angmar, and prisoners travel through a path in open sight, the Orcs prefer the underground tunnels within the Misty Mountains for traveling through Angmar, and are known to few besides the Orcs.

After Minos' meeting with Morsereg he returned to dispatch his troops accordingly. The five thousand wrag riders were intructed to keep camp in the tunnels. The three thousand gobblin archers were dispatched into the mountain, breaking into several smaller companies. The tunnels were not only occupied by the Warg Riders of Moria. The Orcs that inhabited the tunnels had been evacuated, and now the dark tunnels held sanctuary for the cavalry of Angmar, the Warg Riders, Warg-Riding Archers, and Wain-Riding Orc Pikemen. They set up camp at a different end of the tunnels that Minos' warriors, so that, were attack to come, they could come at them from both sides.
