Gimli sat with the other dwarven elders of Erebor. These were the heirs of the great kingdoms of the ancient race of dwarves, many the sons or grandsons of those who had possessed the great Dwarven rings of Power.
Gimli tried to settle the others down as they argued, complained and discussed matters of jewel refinement, gold shipments and other neccessary issues...

A knight of Arnor entered the Throne of Lord Gimli and bowed low. "Lord of Erebor, the Lord Doren of Arnor seeks alliance with you. Now as we speek all darkness is gathering we fear for an assult upon Middle Earth, my lord's realm of Arnor is indeed a target aswell. The West may not defend themselves alone and only with the aid of the Dwarves may we succeed. Will you accept alliance with Arnor, M'lord?"

Gimli ran his hand through his long beard, now showing traces of grey in the once bright red furls.
"This Doren, comes from Arnor you say? My my my,... it seems we must do something my fellow dwarves! We will aid Arnor, but we are far to the east, and RHun lies on our border. We must be cautious to send troops, but aid we will pledge with your young folk."

"My lord sends you his gratitude, wise Lord of Dwarves. There are more allies to be had for we must stand together in these dark days. I shall now travel to the Iron Hills but it would most kind if I would be allowed to stay for the night."

The emissary bowed lower still "May the dwarven people of Erebor be blessed this day! I am weary and must report to my lord of your approval. He will be most pleased." The knight walked silently from the Throne room after giving one last curtious bow.
Night came and the knight of Arnor slept at the dwarven in of Erebor after sharing many ales with it's natives. Once morning's light came the knight quickly prepared his horse and began his trek back to Arnor.

Six days had passed since the knights arrival in Erebor and yet another emissary of Arnor appeared over the horizon on the sixth day. It was a falcon of great size and grace who felt the warmth of the son on his wings. The spire of Erebor was within his site and without hesitation he made his way into the caverns and towards the throne room of Gimli. He landed on the Dwarven lord's arm indicating a letter tied to his leg with his beak.
Greetings, King of Erebor,
A council shall be held at Annuminas with the peoples of the free realms each present. I invite you to join us at Annuminas' citadel where we shall put a stop to a growing power in the allies of Angmar. I have taken a bold action and ventured to Angmar to speak with it's lord. I have learned that Enedwaith, Moria, Isengard, Khand, and of course Angmar are joining to destroy the free realms. We must take action! I look forward to receiving your response and hope to see you soon.
~Sincerely, Lord Doren, King of Arnor~

A messenger entered the hall and bowed, then he read a message from a scroll,"Kili Redtears ruler of the Iron Hills wishes that Erebor and the Iron Hills be allies for a storm is radging in the east and if the dwarven kingdoms attacked together they could give a mighty blow for the war by taking Rhun."

"Indeed, the dwarven elders will come to Annunimas, and Kili, we will join with you."
with that, the dwarven elders prepared to leave for Arnor.

Those in Angrenost call upon you for aid. Ilmare of Enedwaith are seiging Isengard, but we suspect her allies to come very soon.
Most Regards, Megloren Istdale

A messanger entered the halls and bowed to Gimli and handed him a letter from Mirkwood.
Dear Lord Gimli,
The Lady of Mirkwood has invited you and any of your subjects who you wish to bring to a masquerade ball in Mirkwood. All realms are invited but at the time of the ball there shall be no good or evil, merely a party with gatherers. Come to talk, joke, and have fun and maybe fix any loosened ties withing realms. We hope to see you and those you bring. Please reply to as soon as possible.
Sincerly, Siranna of Mirkwood.
