Legolas' dwelling in the White City

[Legolas]

Legolas waited here in the White city. He had reason to remain now, though soon he would remove to Ithilien, and he hoped that the one he cared for the most would come with him. But still, here he would wait, and dwell in the great city until the time came.

[Gimli]

Gimli burst into the room, slamming open the doors, rushing in like a whirlwind, headed straight for Legolas.

The dwarf's booming voice shouting as he came.

"Legolas! it's times like these when I wonder how you can deal with yourself. Living like a half-witted hobbit or such nonsense. We need your help! How can you go on living with yourself, doing nothing!

Even now, I come straight from Rohan," at the mention of the place, Gimli growled, "Rohan! HA! nothing noble about it anymore. I'll have you know lad, that Megloren Istdale is now in control of the land! Yes, you heard me! She has the whole thing, just walked in and took off with it! We need you to come and do something about it! Let's go on in to her stronghold back at Isengard, gather up some ents, and rip a whole through her bedroom! I'd like to give her a piece of my axe, AYE!!!"

At this, Gimli sat down on a large chair, quite out of breath from his little escapade, but still going on about how absurd it was, and ridiculous.

Leaning forward, he spoke in a hushed tone, as if expecting someone to overhear them, "And you know something else, there were wights there! Aye! wights, evil and grim-faced. They were with some dark fellow, someone I'd never heard of before, but Megloren called him...Morsereg. Tis a dark name to be sure. He had the most evil smile I've ever seen. Why, he looked as if he'd kill you if he looked at you with that sly grin.

Legolas...now is the time to act!"

A Captain in the King's Winged Guard knocked upon the door of Legolas' dwelling, and when the tall elf opened the door, the Captain snapped to attention smartly.

"My Lords," said he, "there is talk and council of war a'brewing in the Citadel, and good King Aragorn sends for thee. He would have thy opinions and the allegiance of thy realm, for reported it is that evil prepares to strike. Lord Legolas, as his friend of old, he asks for thy strong bow at his right hand, and Lord Gimli, the King would have thy stout axe at his left. I shall depart now, but the King politely requests your aid."

With that, the guard saluted and spun about, walking quickly back to the White Tower.

Gimli turned to Legolas, "Well youngin', it seems Aragorn has thrown us into the mix of battle again. Come, let's see whose head we're to chop of today."
