Dorfanen shook his head in disgust.
"Gagged you? And what was to assure me that I would not receive more words in a like tone, or perhaps injury to myself had you persisted? As for your, 'violent method', it was no more than a light tap."
At this, Dorfanen mounted behind her, urging the horse on gently...perhaps in a more gentle manner than he had went about in with this woman.

E'vesash gave an irritated laugh and glanced back at him as the horse began to move. "Yes, a light tap that kept me from consciousness for quite some time. And a light tap that still has me dizzy on my feet." She reached up to touch the tender spot near her eye, but said nothing more on the matter as they manuvered through the woods. She hoped the journey to Gondor would not take over long.

For some time they rode on in silence. Dorfanen had nothing to say, nor indeed did he want to. For all he cared, he could have killed this maiden and not have given it a second thought. But he had been promised a large reward for his action...and to lose what he had come so far to earn would be pointless...

E'vesash had wanted to say more, to make some point proven to him, but she knew it would be useless. She knew she could not make him see eye to eye with her, and he probably never would. For that she was sad, for he should not have turned out the way he did. Knowing not what else she could do, she held her tongue - keeping silent for quite some time. They rode on for a few days, falling into a routine of riding, eating and sleeping. It wouldn't be long now before the would see the land of Gondor on the horizon.

Soon the two were crossing the great plains of Rohan. Several times the helms of riders were visible and the glint of the sun against spears was made known, but never did they encounter any of these. And so they passed unhindered after several days to the land of Gondor. The White City stood like a gem among the mountains, and they proceeded up to the very walls of the city.
