E'vesash had to struggle to keep her jaw from dropping in awe at Dorfanen's words. She kept her gaze focused straight ahead, and placed a hand lightly on her forehead as she attempted to make sense of what he'd said. "Alatariel? Is that her name?" She paused. "I do not understand how she could be alive...though much less the queen of Mordor."

Dorfanen merely shook his head. "She payed me well, and that is enough for me. I ask no questions..."

"You ask no questions?" E'vesash repeated in disgust. She felt the hunger in her stomach, but would eat nothing. How could she eat here? "You simply do her bidding...no matter how it affects the lives about you? Have you no heart...no honor?" She watched him carefully through green eyes that flashed with irritation.

Dorfanen grit his teeth as he glared at the woman. "I had honor... I had strength to do what was right, but that ended when my family was taken without any questions."

E'vesash was once again surprised by his sudden revalation. Her brow furrowed as she watched him, though not quite all the anger left her expression. "What do you mean? You're family was taken from you?"

Dorfanen glared at her, turning his gaze back to the fire, clearly indicating the matter was closed.
"Nothing..."

E'vesash watched him for a time longer, her gaze filled with sorrow for the situations of them both. "Please," she finally whispered, "for all that is good in you...take me back to Gondor. Take me back to my husband." Her emerald eyes followed his every movement. "There must be something inside of you that says this is wrong." E'vesash rose and moved toward him, placing a hand lightly upon his shoulder. "Not everyone in this world is evil as you think. Not everyone desires you harm. If you take me back, you won't be trapped in an endless circle of hiding and wrongdoing. Let us help you."

Dorfanen sat in silence. It was a bitter struggle for him...one of holding onto the pain and wrong that had been done to him, and that he had done others. Why? Why was always the question he asked. Why he lived on. Why he could not bring his will to do as he wished. Why?
The silence was long...long and cold. How he wished he could give this up...this one chance to start over... Not completely. He had a job to do, and he must finish it...
"No... I will not take you back... You will go yourself..."

Evesash glanced up sharply at his words, raising a brow in confusion. "What...? What do you mean?" She folded her arms and leaned back against the stone wall. He could not be serious about what he'd just said. She couldn't make it back on her own...she didn't know the way. Not to mention all the trouble that would most likely bar her path were she to wonder off alone. Evy shook her head as she watched him.

Dorfanen nodded his head for emphasis. "You may go...on your own. I have my orders, and those are to... No...no that would not do at all. Very well... I will escort you to Gondor, and you will confront your sister...alone. I am not disobeying my orders, which are to watch over you. But, should you desire to go to Gondor, so long as I am there, I see no harm in it."

E'vesash glanced up at him once more, a small glimmer of hope shining in her emerald eyes. Maybe it wasn't too late. She rose quickly from the bed, immediatly regretting the dizzying action, and she sat back down, touching the bruised spot on her face. "Why did you hit me so?" She did not leave the question to be answered, but instead rose slowly, resting a hand upon the wall for support. "Fine...take me there."

Dorfanen nodded silently, making his way about the camp, tying furs together, wrapping up the food that he had brought. As soon as all of the items were either stowed in a small alcove along the rocks, or upon the back of Dorfanen's horse, he motioned for Evy to mount.

E'vesash looked at him incredulously as he motioned toward the horse. The elf maiden could barely walk, how could she mount a horse on her own? "You know as well as I do that I'll never make it atop that beast without collapsing to the ground." She folded her arms, leaning against part of the stone wall. "It is your fault too for striking me like you did." She placed her hand momentarily upon her forehead as she waited for him to say or do something.

Dorfanen couldn't help letting a smile appear on his face as he lifted the maiden up with a great heave, setting her atop the horse.
"I would not have needed to his you had you not screamed..."

E'vesash looked down at him with only mild irritation as he spoke. "Well, what else was I supposed to do?" She asked as she gripped the saddle horn to keep from sliding off. "You could have gagged me or chosen some less violent method of quieting me." She turned her gaze forward, peering through the trees as she waited for him to mount and get the steed moving in the direction of Gondor.
