From the steel gate of the Dark Tower a great causeway ran out into the plain of Gorgoroth across a mighty bridge. The Ghash Road meening the 'Road of Fire' ran from the foundations of Barad-Dur to the feet of Mount Doom. Always this road was kept in repair by the countless slaves of the Dark Lord. Alongside this road, molten lava flowed from Mount Doom that was channeled back across the plain to the Dark Tower. This channel of fire fed the forges of the Dark Lord and was also a natural defence that none could cross without the leave of the Dark Lord.
