It is said that this was the abode of Indur Dawndeath, one of the Nine Nazgul. In the early years of the Third Age when Sauron ruled from Dol Guldur in Mirkwood, and the Nazgul secretly reentered Mirkwood to prepare for their master's return, Indur Dawndeath ruled over the southern regions of Mordor below the Mithram spur. As one of the Nine he was a being of shadow and invisibility and bound even more completely to the Dark Lord. Indur ruled much of the lands of Harad to the South and controlled the lands as a feif to his master. During the War of the Ring he directed the mumakil assult on the City of Minas Tirith. The fortess of Daemon Angren was at the base of the Mithram Spur and looked down upon the fertile plain of Nurn. It is beleived that many Haradrim and their great mumakil came north up the Khand Road in preperation for the War of the Ring and were trained in the slave feilds of the South.
