Mordor that Sauron sought to recruit Smaug the Magnificent for his war against the West... Gandalf is quoted as saying "The dragon Sauron might use with terrible effects." It is said that a mountain, east of Barad-Dur was being kept in waiting for the arrival of Smaug from his original home north of Mirkwood in the Lonely Mountain. He might have lured Smaug with the promise of an even greater mountain of gold. Carn Telloth!
