he turned, '' My Lieutenant, Lebennen, son of Uldor the Accursed, and a Noldor women, and one of my Bloodguard in training, Legolas Thranduilion, '' he gestured for them to approach.

"Legolas Thraunduilion," she repeated the name in almost surprise. She had of course followed the events that led to the downfall of Sauron. "Elves do make the best warriors though," Rána said, she had seen how firce the anchient warriors had fought, and knew the Elves skills could not have deteriorated.

'' Mmmm, I have killed enough to know that, and recieved my share of wounds, '' Saeren agreed, as he looked at the blond elf, feeling his rage, his self loathing, enjoying the inner fires and turmoil. '' A shame there are so few Noldor left, - but if there are any I will certainly make it my business to introduce myself, ''

"The Noldar were damn fine warriors. I fought in Dagor Bragollach, I saw Fingolfin wound my father," A faint smile crossed Rána's face at the memory. "A pity many of them returned to Aman. The only way you could get many now would be to draw them back here some how."

A smile danced in Saerens eyes, as he was damned sure he had a good way, of eventually tempting at least some of the Noldor back, threads were beginning to come together, but it always took time. And he revealed his plans to no one. But it was on Maglor they hinged. '' I wish I had seen that '' he said, of Morgoths fight with Fingolfin, '' I fought many Noldor, '' and regretted each one he killed. He, son of a Maia and a Noldor, put to work training the undisciplined hordes of men from the east, whose very stench he could not abide, - always it rankled with him, even as he knew it was ever in Lebennens heart, more elf than Secondborn , causing resentment and jealousy, shown in the way he pushed Legolas to breaking point. But the Sindar prince was stronger than he looked.

Rána sat on one of the great peaks of Thangorodrim, feeling each tremble as her father made his way from the depths to the gates of the fortress. She had a feeling that things would not bode well for Morgoth as she listened to Fingolfin call out to him. The mighty Noldar in his shining armor stood fearless and unmoving as dark lord towered above him.
Seven times Fingolfin was able to wound Morgoth and each time Rána silently rejoyced hearing her father's cries of anguish. But she disappeared as Thorondor had flown down to bear Fingolfin's broken body away. From her chamber deep within Angband Rána had heard her father limp back to his Throne Room.
That was when he had called for her, a loud barking command that had seemed to echo through every passage. Rána fell to the the floor in a bow before the dark throne, 'You summoned me my Lord,' she said, hiding her fear for she now knew that he sensed her thoughts during the battle. You think it amusing that a warrior with out any power can wound me? he had thundered, jerking her up from the floor. 'No,' she trembled knowing what was going to come next. 'No my lord I did not mean it!' But her cries had been drowned out by a wave of power from Morgoth. Rána looked away from Tar to the now setting moon, a far away look in her eyes. "A waste my father could have used them instead of those dirty orcs," she said to Tar, the strange look leaving her eyes as she turned to face him again.

Saeren laughed. '' You think after what Morgoth did any of the Noldor would have done aught for him? They have pride like fire, it was Morgoth , in the end, who was not fit for them, not the other way around. ''

"I did not say they would have served him willingly. Did anyone but Sauron?" Rána knew the Noldar would not have fought for their greatest enemy, but if Morgoth had held thier minds under his will like he had done with hers then they would not have had a choice. "Well Saeren I have met someone I think you would be interested in speaking with."

" Oh truly? " Saerens voice held skepticism, he was extremely particular about those he associated with. he could see men as cattle, and manipulate them, but in private and '' socially '', there were few he felt who merited any attention from him.

"The greatest of the Noldar, the one who named my father Mogoth Bauglir has landed in Mithlond. He seems to want the Noldar to rule lands here again." Rána had sensed Feanor in Mithlond and had gone to speak with him, only curious to see the famed maker of the Silmarils.

'' Feanor.... '' Saeren repeated, the words dragged from his lips in a soft hiss, like a metal brush over steel. '' So he has been reborn. This is interesting. And he wants lands for the Noldor? Well why not. From all I ever saw of them, they seemed to me too fiery for the peace of Valinor, '' he laughed softly. '' There are many wide lands in the north, Eriador, Rhovannion, Lindon....'' His blue-burning eyes gleamed. '' Has he mentioned Maglor? I wonder if they ever met, would his son ever tell him of Barad Dur? '' he mused almost to himself. '' Like him , do you? Maglor worships him, I do not think any of his sons ever thought they could measure up to him. ''

"Truely magnificent," she mused, thinking of Feanor. "And even the years in Mandos' halls have not dimmed his fires. No he has not said anything of his lost son. Only condemned me for being Melkor's daughter." Not that Rána was bothered by what anyone thought of her.

" Ah, if only we could choose our sires, " he said, with his glittering smile. " Maglor will be joining me, in the south. There is some-one he really should meet there. I wish Feanor the best of luck. Far too many mortals on Arda, but I can keep them tied up for millenia in wars down south, so they will never have the time or effort to look northwards, "

"Mortals really are disgusting," she said glancing toward her villa. "I believe Feanor wished to speak with you. I believe he heard of you in Aman." Maglor, the only one of Feanor's sons who had not died. "And how are you convincing the son of Feanor to join you in Harad?"

'' I cannot imagine what Feanor would want with me, save that his son and I have a very... close bond, '' he murmured. '' Maglor will come to harad, willingly because that is where his son is. My nephew, I always thought he might come in useful, besides, it's so satisfying to have something of a hold over those of that blood, rather like having wild tigers on a long leash, ''
