I am missing something I know we had before and we seem to get it lost more and more. Whats about honour and grace in our recent RPs? Do we all need to reread Tolkien to get his idea back into our mind? To be good or evil or switching in between, does not mean to get bare of honour and grace and good RP. There was once a fine stile in this community, even between the foes. There was the respect and manners of old. For excample: It is actually a high honour for good and evil to be invited to the trials of Lord. Apropriate behaviour would be to keep this in mind and leave a battle with a respectfull greeting and gratitude to the victor, and not to run off with snoddy words or just turn into a bird and fly away. But we have recently snoddy words not only in the trials, though. Some people keep calling other realm rulers, Lords and Ladies in IC "stupid" etc. Well, that's a behaviour fine for fishermen and coleminer, but the Lords and Ladies of Middle Earth used a kind of different tone, even they were offended and angry. And finally, some of us struggle with the language because we are not native speaker, but we try and be gratefull if native speaker correct us in a friendly way, so we can edit our messy spellings and grammar. But there are also those kinds of native speaking people, who type down in a hurry some stuff they get just in mind, and they don't care about spelling and grammar and sense of their sentences at all. Not only that's difficult to understand, its just butchering the beauty of Tolkiens language. It hurts me finding myself doing it accidently, but its really painfull to see it done day by day on purpose or lazyness. Just think one minute what he would say, if he reads some of our recent postings! Thank you for your attention.

I think Petra may have a point. I can remember back when I was still young at this stuff, when I first made the old board and folks I knew came over when TGH died, and we started a new community together. There was always a sense of family and of honour even in defeat, and sometimes it almost seems like that's lacking nowadays...just about all the old hands still have what it takes, but sometimes we jsut get to caught up in posting quickly, or in getting our own way that we forget about having fun and the fact that this was once one of the most in-canon LOtR boards, which it still is. Let's just try to remember to respect each other, and speak in high tones with noble words and honour, so that by our actions will will remember the greatness that was and is our idol, John.

Hey i remember when i joined the first cog. I started up my realm and then got kinda quiet. when i came back a few days later everyone was talking and i saw that Morsereg joined and JUMPED FOR JOY!!! And the plots were fun and the battles were fun and it didn't matter the numbers so much. That was great. no one really took mind to the other forces host because there was this feeling of fighting together (at least for me) that kept us going with good form and not saying HEY I HAVE TWENTY THOUSAND MORE!! (wich i admit as morgoth i did quite a bit) and it turned into a HUGE argument. I think we might have gotten bit better in battles. (not sure because we haven't REALLY had one yet) Oh well. point is those early days were good times. lol

Its funny how you're talking about me, Petra, when you've been calling Megloren a bitch in the RP... more than once as well. I dont think thats very Tolkienish either....

You know what, now that Lancir has spoken his mind....
The newbs to this community, with the exception of a few of them [mainly Jess], I hate them. They don't think through their posts, and are quite bad RPers.
Meg, you're a bitch, plain as that. Tom, you are a god-damn fool who can't think outside of the box.
1 - Good and evil only? Okay, then...Let's put it this way:
There is definately neutrality in ME. Think of Mercenaries, or I guess you could say the Corsairs too. They do what is best FOR THEM. If good was good in the short run but not in the long run, but evil was good for them in the long run, then they'd go evil, and vice-versa.
2 - You compare WAY too many things to just the movies. The true art of Tolkien is in the books, not the movies. And then you go and DISS the Witch-King, when I didn't insult Lurtz.
3 - You're sexist. Plain as that. Even if you say you're not, that whole "omg the WK got beat by a woman and a halfling, great choice" comment WAS sexist, saying that if a guy got beat by a woman then he automatically sucks. The WK has A LOT more depth and purpose that Lurtz...who really doesn't exist if you go by Tolkien.
*sigh* Thank god I got THAT out

Okay im gonna say my mind now , Morsey your an ass hole im feeling better already .
Whos the noobs, what gives you the right to call people noobs,
I am not sexist , plain and simple , women in middle earth were thought to be useless , the biug bad witchking thinks hes all that gets totally wiped out By a halfing thought to be useless and a women thought to be weak , plain and simple , and dont try and twist my words.
And the good and evil part, well to my knowledge in the 3rd age you was either with one or the other , the only exceptions was Tom Bombadil , and the hobbits but even atthe end they were fighting saruman.
I compare things to the movies because most of the , so called Noobs , rp from that , or read the books , no one says what were supposed to compare it 2.

It's amazing how quickly the Ode to honor and grace becomes a chance for people to take out their problems on others. Quite frankly, nobody cares about any of the stuff in the above couple of posts.

Yeah, I don't appreciate being called a 'noob'. And not all people are complete morons, so don't jump to conclusions. If any of you noticed, I've been here for nearly three days, and have yet to make an action involving my character.
1.) I like to get a feel of what the hell's going on, so I don't look like a 'noob'.
2.) To see who the residential asses are out there. Spotted a few of 'em already.
3.) To become accustom to all characters in general, to be better prepared.
kthnx.
And another thing, about what Mur said.. I agree, that back then men did consider women to be weaker, though that's not always the case sometimes. He's just roleplaying, it's not like he's really a sexist.

I have the right to call someone a noob because I've been here longer and they're starting off and COMPLETELY ignoring the words of the ones who have been here longer, on some times probably even badmouthing our friendly administrator!
and to Venorik, it wasnt in RP. it was in MSN. Not RP, in an actual convo we were having.
Yeah, those are Middle-Earth's views. THat doesn't mean YOU SHARE THEM. Middle-Earth is like the old ages of our time, when they thought women were useless. I have the exat convo here:
Beg the Devil~ WK Beg the Devil For obvious reasons ~Tom~ yes ~Tom~ l he gets bneat by a woman and halfling ~Tom~ brilliant choice
That's exactly as it was from my convo history [yes, unlike some, I actually keep a convo history]
That is a sexist comment, if you yourself said it. If it was someone from ME, it would still be sexist [thoughts that women were useless are sexist thoughts.]
I will not take sexist shit from anyone, not since I saw Megan get hurt by a sexist comment. I will not hear that shit from anyone. Anyone.
Going with the one or the other thing is two extremes, and don't you dare say that its different from being nice all the time or mean all the time. THey're the exact same concept. Two extremes.
