"No redemption for sins, thou sayest?" Aragorn looked thoughtful, and took no offense at the refusal of his best weed. "Then what has any who walk upon this earth to look forward to? Is't merely to eke out our insignificant lives, and hope that there is no pain when we die? Is that why we were made? Is it? I tend to think differently. History tells us that in the Ainulindale we were created, that an offspring of love from Eru we might be. Do thou spurn thy children when they err? Or do thou allow them to soon see the error in their ways and come back to thy welcoming arms, that they might be made stronger and love thee all the more? How much more shall our high father be willing to forgive when his children have turned from him, if they humble themselves and are willing to return to him? For he benefits from us as well as we from he, for he loves us, and it pains him for us to be absent from his love? Surely thou canst see that forgiveness from sins is a core of existence?"

Aragorn and Arwen entered the pub after leaving the Houses of Healing, with Aragorn's arm in a sling. They thought to take their ease there and have a quiet drink ere they returned to their chambers for the evening. Aragorn requested a large cold ale, and when Arwen had placed her order and the boy had gone, he turned to her and said
"Vanimelda, I recall well how we used to oft come here and enjoy quiet hours, ere the evils of Middle-earth multiplied. So often now do I wish that such gladsome days might last for all time, that I could dwell in peace with thee forever."

She smiled at him. "So do I, not at least because I would really apreciate to keep you in one piece." Her hand touched his broken arm gently like a butterfly. "Everytime you get in trouble you comes back with even more scars and wounded limbs and I can't even hug you without harm you." she twinkled with one eye to him.

He laughed and kissed her. "Forgive me for that, dear one. It does seem that way, does it not? But this arm will mend ere long, and thou mayest embrace me without fear of hurt."

She smiled at him. "I hope it will stay this way. I love to care for you, but I would love even more not to have the need to." She laughed.

"Of course it will, vanimelda, of course it will. Soon I shall be well, and thou shalt have no need to tend me. I know I go abroad often, but be assured that I will never leave thee, do not worry. I will always be here to look after my Arwen."

She kissed him. The waitor came and brought their drinks. Arwen raised her glas and said: "For your victory about Morsereg and that the evil will not overrun Middle Earth."

Aragorn smiled back and rang his mug of ale against her clear glass, and drank, then saying wryly that "it may have been a victory for Gondor and her allies, but always after a defeat and a respite, the Shadow takes another shape and grows again. I fear we may not rest yet longer than is sufficient to heal mine arm, and then I must be off."
He lowered his voice, and told his wife all that he had heard from Morsereg's dying lips, which he had as yet told no one in full, and what he thought that they might mean: a dark and terrible weapon laying hidden in Angmar, and that he felt it his duty to releive the world of it.

Arwen lowered her glas and looked into his eyes. "Than you have to search for it." she said quietly. She layed one hand in his and squeezed him gently.

"It is always such a comfort to know that I have the full support of my Arwen, whenever something dark and dreadful must needs be done, even if it might mean that her Estel could return injured or slain. It is my lot in life - I am sure thou canst see it - to aid this world in whatever wise I may, and oft that wise is dangerous. But calm thy trembling heart - I shall return as swfitly as I go, unharmed and safe."

She kissed him and smiled. "I know that you have to go. I don't worry for your life, you fought greater evil in the past. It is the parting which hunts me and makes me sad. But now is not the time for sadness or parting, melamin."

"Sooth, sooth indeed, vanimelda!" said Aragorn heartily. "Await me here, I shan't be long!" And he went away to the bar, leaving Arwen wondering after him, but he soon returned, and just as he neared a few instruments struck up a tune in a corner. Several of the people in the Pub broke into grins, and bows were offered and cursties received, and noble and peasant alike began to dance. Aragorn knelt in front of his bride, and held out his hand to her.

He swept her up gently but firmly to her feet and clasped his arm about her waist. She took hold of him and glanced at him, allowing him to lead, so off he skipped, happy to dance and spend time with his wife after being apart from her for so long and narrowly escaping death. He spun her swiftly and artfully, her dress flying about them as they whirled in a blaze of colour about the Common Room, until a large circle had formed about them, and people clapped in time and laughed to see their King and their Queen.

Arwen cheered and spun in the turns and circles, Aragorn lead her in. And even one arm in bandage, he moved with her together in perfect harmony. Swift were their feet and bright the laughtere and cheering. He made her feeling she was flying through the room, safe and sound in his strong arm.
