"I am but a stubborn elf, unwilling to accept that my time in these lands has come and gone. I have known these hills and woods far to long to leave them now. I have been fortunate in my years and have not endured the hardships that have befallen so many of my people." He smiled, "Perhaps that is why I refuse to cross the sea. I have yet to leave my mark upon the the history of these lands I hold so dear." Fox took the bottle and downed what was left after Envin's last gulp, his mind turning back to the woman. "Do not be so hasty in your desire to punish her for her deceit, my friend. Legends of beings of her sort have deep roots and such a creature is not a thing to take lightly."
Fox then stood and stretched his legs. "I thank you for the company, my friend, and I wish you well in your journeys. Keep your guard high, Nim'ohtar, the road before you is a perilous one." Without another word he whistled for his pet. The giant bear stirred from its slumber and trudged passed Fox into the darkness. Fox gave a farewell nod to Envin before following the bear into the woods. "Tenna' ento lye omenta."

A soft voice behind Envin giggled and disappeared to be close to his right ear: "I haven't done you any harm but shared my bread with you..." And with the next breeze of the wind the voice was gone without a trace.

Envin sat silently for a long time after the hunter had bid him farewell, not even stirring when he heard the voice of the wind. He grunted and lowered himself down to sleep.

Out of the shadow condensed the shape of a wolf. She was trotting to the fire and sitting down, staring with her gloomy green eyes onto the sleeper. She sat there for a while unnoticed by the Paladin till the feeling of something strange close by reached his senses.

Envin's trained senses were able to tell him of the presence of evil even while he was asleep, and he was so used to the feeling that he was able to wake without opening his eyes, and ever so very slowly he cracked one eye, a slit too small to be seen, and observed the wolf. The green eyes caught his attention at once, and he knew that the shape-shifter had returned.

The wolf seemed not to notice that the paladin was awake and kept sitting in silent, not removing his eyes from the man. He did not make any attempt to draw closer or attack but sat there like a dog waiting for the attention of its master.

Envin grumbled to himself. He had been waiting for the beast to make the first movement, but seeing that this was unlikely to happen, he rolled himself up to a sitting position, fully awake, and faced the wolf. "I see you, shapeshifting fiend, and I do not fear you. State your purpose there before me, before I am forced to think you a coward."

The wolf's shape changed. Slowly it transformed itself into Elanor. She sat there where the wolf had sit and looked with green glooming eyes at the paladin. "Maybe I am," she said with a bright smile. "Don't try to reach me, you can't kill me, Lord Envin. Stating my purpose? And if I have none but just to have some company? It seems you know shape shifter like you knew this fire wizards you told of. Why do you think I am one of them, what did I do to you?"

Envin snorted. "Do not attempt to snare me with your words. What have you done to me? You have lied, that much is certain. Why should I trust you now? And if I can't kill you, I can certainly hurt you, enough to make you weep. Would you care to see?" He grinned wickedly at her bright smile.

The shape of the woman lost its structure and became green mist. "Self righteous fool," a voice hissed and with a wind breeze the fog vanished.

Lancir walked into the pub and looked around surveying everything and the walked and sat in an corner of the room able to survey everything but behind him but very few were able to sneak up upon lancir. Lancir looked around once more and then looked at the waiter. "Get me an ale" he walked as he left then took out a pipe and lit it and took a long drag off of it
