Well, as all of you except the blind members of CoG can see, I added another banner to my signature. I haven't really done any photoshop in a while, just because of being on hiatus and everything, so I'm wanting some opinions on this thing. I just threw it together with PSP at work, and I'm going to put some text on it at home with photoshop later, but anyone have any thoughts? Top banner down there | V

Also, you guys like the new admin/gmod/mod stars? Kind of a neat idea, I thought. And redid the ranks for normal members, gave you guys more stars, I think.

I have got to say I do like the eyes, adds a kind of rather ghostly, intensity and mystique.

Good, that's what I was going for, sort of an almost creepy image. Pal of mine told me he thought Aragorn's eye sockets on the right picture were too dark to pull off the eye color, but I kind of think it's so creepy because his eye sockets are so dark.

I agree with your friend - they're too dark. And also, the blue isn't natural -- I've never seen osmeone iwht eyes that color. It also looks kind of strange because Denethor has the exact same eye color. He might need a paler, greyer blue, or even a grey-ish green or something. And did you use multiply? Overlay is usually better for colorizing. I only use multiply if I lighten it and change the opacity, or when I color a drawing because that's on a white bakground first. I think you desaturated the eyes first -- good. If you really want it to look creepy, try some initial editing before you start the blend or coloring. I odn't know that the grid really adds anything -- graphic suicide is too many brushes or effects. Just the cracks and grungy text would have been sufficient. It also seems like the Aragorn on the far left is too isolated; it looks like he doesn't quite belong. And the cracks - you might want to make them form more of an edge - right now, they're just king of there, and don't look that realistic. And never save a JPEG like that with the fuzzy things around the text and brushes -- not good. Optimize it first.
I'm not bashing you, but you *did* ask for opinions...

Well, actually I was trying to go with an otherworldly look to the eyes, I dunno why. And actually I did use overlay, not multiply. In restrospect, I don't like the grid either, and the two brushes on the right don't exactly fit, either, at least not perfectly. You are right about the left Aragorn - looks too alone. But how do you mean the fuzzy things around the brushes? I can't see it - may be this monitor...
Nah, harsh and horribly hurtful criticism is always good, shows you where to improve. ;D

I agree with your friend - they're too dark. And also, the blue isn't natural -- I've never seen osmeone iwht eyes that color. Yeah but I also thought a REALLY vibrant green wasn't natural (Think...light green, but very bright and vibrant), but then I met my cousins' girlfriend. Plus. This is Lord of the Rings, how much has to be natural? LMAO. It's really nice, gives a darker, otherworldly feel, as everyone else has said. And as you know, I'm akin to the dark. lol.

Thanks, Tony - and you're right, lol. Hard to tell what's natural for another world. But I know that to us that blue doesn't look natural, and that why I did it that way, specifically so it would look creepy.

look close around the text -- it's hard to see because it's so dark. Little grainy thingies... damn bastards.

That's why I saved htings as PNGs until I figured out how to optimize. =P

That works.
-_- Must...get...Paintshop Pro...
Oh, well, I'll get the free trial again in a couple weeks, AFTER mid-term exams -_- (Two weeks till mid-terms, oh god save me.) Because by then I'll have moved into my grandmothers house, most likely have a new e-mail, and will be on a different computer. So then I'll be able to join any contests you wish. Can't wait, it's gonna be a blast. (Oh, and guys, so you know, I'm moving in with my grandmother tommorow night, so I might not be on AS MUCH once that starts, but after Mid-terms, they'll have gone to Florida for a couple months and I'll have my computer back. Or I'll just come back home to see dad and use this one)

All very good and well for Tony and his paintshop, all very good and well for Tony and his new computer (reminds me of yes, well done, Slytherin, well done Slytherin...), but what matters is how soon he gets WoW and gets online with it. (aka VERY, VERY SOON!!!)

It's nice. Very nice indeed.
But the one I like better is my new banner and avi. I can't say thanks enough.
